How big is this figure?

Generally, S’VELTE figures stand at an average height of 3.25 inches (8.3cm) tall which is more or less the height of your palm.

Sometimes, we allow selected S’VELTE figures to grow that lil’ bit taller or shorter, depending on who is being portrayed. Those whom we think are tall and dashing cut a tall and dashing figure; those whom we feel are small and cute cut a short and petite one. We are only human. *shrug*

And what is this figure made of?

83% professional Paper Quilling strips

+ 11% non-toxic, strong-bonding adhesive

+ 3.5% specialty paper, including metallic paper and gilt-edged paper strips

+ 1.8% hand-drawn illustration

BACK TO QUESTIONS

Eh, Paper Quilling? What is that?

Paper Quilling is the craft of making decorative designs out of thin strips (typically of 3mm widths) of rolled paper. It has a history of at least five hundred years.

At S’VELTE, we specialize in three-dimensional Paper Quilling, a style of quilling which involves rolling paper strips into tight solid coils and manipulating these coils to make conical shapes. Each S’VELTE figure is made up of at least 11 of such shapes. And that’s not counting hidden structures and other tiny details!

BACK TO QUESTIONS

If this figure is made of paper strips, is it durable?

For the record, S’VELTE figures are NOT toys, and they are not intended for playing with. They contain small parts so they are definitely not suitable for children.

That said, S’VELTE figures are surprisingly sturdy and keep well with minimal fuss, thanks to the techniques unique to this particular style of Paper Quilling. We also use professional-grade, high quality, acid-free paper strips to ensure S’VELTE figures live on to become heirloom keepsakes.

BACK TO QUESTIONS

Is it difficult to maintain my um, figure?

To retain the original look and feel of the paper strips used, S’VELTE figures are not coated with any form of varnish. As such, we recommend that you let your S’VELTE figure be on permanent display at your favourite spot of your favourite place on earth.

Refrain from over-handling your S’VELTE figure as human skin has natural oils and salts (perspiration) that may damage paper objects.

Bright light and high humidity are the top nemeses of all art and craft forms, so be kind to your S’VELTE figure by limiting his/her exposure to light, heat and moisture. Occasionally dusting your S’VELTE figure with a soft-bristle brush will keep him/her clean and happy though.

BACK TO QUESTIONS

This figure can stand without a toy stand, right?

Right. S’VELTE figures come with their very own secure stand. As such, every S’VELTE figure stands proudly on his/her own. Just don’t subject him/her to a typhoon.

BACK TO QUESTIONS

Is this figure an original design?

Absolutely! All S’VELTE figures and accompanying collateral are original designs by the founders behind the brand.

BACK TO QUESTIONS

 Then who makes the figures?

You can be assured that S’VELTE is not some faceless factory hiring tens of labourers working hundreds of hours to churn out thousands of products, like some lifeless machine.

Our founders personally breathe life into each and every S’VELTE figure with imaginative design and fine workmanship. This is a process which must be fine-tuned numerous times with each new design before a figure is considered worthy enough to meet his/her collector. Since there are only the two of them and a limit to what they can produce, every S’VELTE figure you receive is truly a limited edition piece.
